The Journey

Join me on my journey through a personal rebranding of myself and my journey to getting my work published. Being an older adult doesn’t mean we’ve missed our time and it’s time to work on all those dreams – stable health and nutritional changes, financial security, creativity and social change. Let us encourage each other’s writing dreams and futures. I want to create a writing community that shares ideas, teaches and learns, and positively holds each of us up.

I’ve made Langston Hughes’ poem, Harlem, a mantra for life –

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up, Or fester like a sore – And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over – like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags – like a heavy load. Or does it explode?

Nikki has chosen to follow her dreams and you can too.

Nikki has nearly completed her first semi-autobiographical novel, The Blue Line. It follows female auto assemblers and the trouble they run into during and after working hours. She now feels the need share the consequences she endured growing up black and fatherless in the world. Lastly, she’s beginning to work on a short film screenplay about an haunted, all black boarding school in the south. Both are promising and entertaining. Chapters and scenes will be available soon for your suggestions and contributions. Collaboration and assistance with some passages would be welcomed and appreciated.
